XIXth Symposium of the International Association of Women Philosophers
«Feminisms Today. Philosophical Contributions against Violence, Discrimination and Exclusions»
We are pleased to announce that the Next IAPh Symposium will take place in Argentina, Buenos Aires.
The host institution will be the Philosophy Department and the Philosophy Institute, at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (Universidad de Buenos Aires). The organizers are: Professor Verónica Tozzi Thompson, Karina Pedace, Noelia Billi and Victoria Arroche.
On the one hand, this syposium’s proposal aims towards re-adressing the ‚question on the woman‘ from a philosophical standpoint. A question that is part of the IAPh’s bylaws and we would like to be seen approached from the particular context provided by our region’s feminist and sexual diversities movements. On the other hand, faithful to the IAPh spirit, the symposium constitutes, once again, a privileged space designed to render visible the work carried out by people and/or groups traditionally subalternized by their sex-gender condition, around the world and across different philosophical disciplines (theoretical philosophy, practical philosophy and history of philosophy). Our double aim is an evidence of the solid bond between activism, academic work and institutional action that characterizes Argentine philosophical practises, and it has the purpose of further enabling the access of vulnerable social groups to high standard philosophical-academic spaces and government management positions.
